Who Wrote the Emerald Tablets? ✍️

 

The Emerald Tablets were written by Thoth also said to have reincarnated as Hermes Trismegistus or Hermes the Thrice-Great, as he reincarnated three times to continue rule and that he knew the three parts of the wisdom of the whole universe. The three parts of the wisdom are alchemy, astrology, and theurgy. A leader of ancient Egypt, he is often referred to as ‘a God’ and in ancient texts was said to have ruled for thousands of years. The image below shows Thoth (left) and Hermes Trismegistus (right).

There are many interesting things written about Thoth, including that he helped the funerary deities as a messenger and bookkeeper for them. He was responsible for recording the verdict of the heart-weighing ceremony that determined if the person was able to continue on to the Afterlife. If the person’s heart (spirit) balanced with Ma’at’s Feather of Truth, they passed.

 

What are the Emerald Tablets? 🟢

 

The Emerald Tablets are inscribed with ancient wisdom on how reality and the Universe work with reference to the Hermetic Principles, as well as secrets of the universe and divine wisdom. A profound text on consciousness, the origins of man, and reincarnation. Laid the groundwork for the practice of Hermetic alchemy. In our modern world somehow we have come to view alchemy as a science of materials. Changing lead to gold. However, the truth of alchemy lies in mastering principles of the universe so that one may master his/her own mind. Changing a lower state of consciousness (lead) to a higher one (gold).

Acknowledging that they were created on an imperishable material, suggests that they held the knowledge in high regards and is a lot less likely to be fable like some critics try to suggest. The source of the original Emerald Tablet is most commonly said to have been found in a caved tomb under the statue of Hermes in Tyana, clutched in the hands of the corpse of Hermes Trismegistus himself.

It is said that Thoth ‘divided his knowledge into 42 plates of emerald, codifying the great scientific principles ruling the Universe. The legend tells that after the gods’ fall, the Hermetic tablets were cleverly hidden so that no human being might find them all. Only Thoth, on his return to that dimension, was able to recover the mysterious book.’

Another thing noted about the Emerald Tablets is that there are two different versions that are often confused:

1. The original Emerald Tablet is thought to have been found by the Caliphate Al Mamuun in the 12th century AD at the time he entered the Great Pyramid of Giza and that this could’ve been inscribed on the lid of the ‘sarcophagus’ from the ‘king chamber’.

2. ‘The Emerald Tablets‘ discovered and translated by Maurice Doreal in 1925. Doreal said that he found actual physical tablets hidden in ancient underground chambers inside the Great Pyramid of Giza (within the structures leading to the ‘Halls of Amenti’). He said the tablets were written by Thoth (an Atlantean priest-king), and he later translated them from an ancient, indestructible material through higher knowledge gained from an occult group called the ‘Brotherhood of the White Temple’. Some debate that he created the books solely based on his occult knowledge (not translating physical tablets), but he presented it as ancient wisdom he accessed, not invented. The Emerald Tablets Translated 📃

 

Here is an accurate translation from the 12th century Latin, derived from the Pyramid texts which are said to be closest in translation to the Chinese version since the rainbow (ordered lights below) are referenced (though tot be critical to its understanding):

“When I entered into the cave, I received the tablet Zardari, which was inscribed, from between the hands of Hermes, in which I discovered these words:
1) True, without falsehood, certain, most certain.
2) What is above is like what is below, and what is below is like that which is above. To make the miracle of the one thing.
3) And as all things were made from contemplation of one, so all things were born from one adaptation.
4) Its father is the Sun, its mother is the Moon.
5) The wind carried it in its womb, the earth …… fed it.
6) It is the father of all ‘works of wonder’ (Teleseme) in the world.
6a) Its power is complete (integra).
7) If cast to (turned towards- versa fuerit) earth,
7a) It will separate earth from fire, the subtile from the gross.
8) With great capacity it ascends from earth to heaven. Again it descends to earth, and takes back the power of the above and the below.
9) Thus you will receive the glory of the distinctiveness of the world. All obscurity will flee from you.
10) This is the whole most strong strength of all strength, for it overcomes all subtle things, and penetrates all solid things.

12) From this comes marvelous adaptions of which this is the procedure.

There are many profound quotations from the 1925 translation as well, some of which are written below (and all of which can be listened to in the videos further down the page):

“Master are ye of your destiny, free to take or reject at will. Take ye the power, take ye the wisdom, shine as a light among the children of men.”

“Fire, the inner fire, is the most potent of all force, for it overcometh all things, and penetrates to all things of the earth.”

“He who knows the light that is within himself shall ascend unto the eternal light and dwell in it eternal.”

“Wisdom is power and power is wisdom, one with each other, perfecting the whole.”

Billy Carson has identified a quote from the Emerald Tablets that links to modern scientific findings. In the Emerald Tablets, Thoth said, “Then raised I my staff and directed a ray of vibration, striking them still in their tracks as fragments of stone of the mountain,” about the barbarians he encountered. Mohenjo-Daro in the Indus Valley has remnants of buildings and sand turned to glass and the bodies are still lying in the streets today holding hands and have never been scavenged by animals. There are bodies still sat on steps next to the buildings they lived in, with no evidence of any impact injuries such as stab wounds. The buildings are petrified which means they have been exposed to 3000+ degrees temperature. Some images of the bodies can be seen below.

There are also interesting passages on the afterlife. In the Doreal “Emerald Tablets of Thoth the Atlantean,” there is a passage about moving in circles, not straight lines, in a context related to the afterlife and the astral realms encountered after death. The idea shows up in Emerald Tablet VIII, “The Key of Mysteries.” In this chapter, Thoth describes what happens in the astral planes after death, including:

• How the soul travels
• Dangers one can encounter
• How “shadows” or lower entities operate
• How to avoid being trapped by them

It’s in this section that he explains:

• Lower astral beings (“the Brothers of the Shadow”) move only in straight lines and that these entities can “snare” or “bind” a wandering soul.

• A soul can evade them by moving in a curve or circle. Circular or spiral movement is a natural mode of higher consciousness, whereas straight-line movement is characteristic of lower forces.

This advice is specifically given in the context of what the soul should know when navigating the realms beyond physical life.

Thoth frames the afterlife journey as one requiring:

• Awareness
• Mastery of movement
• Avoidance of “shadow” forces
• Alignment with higher vibrational geometry (circles, spirals)

As such, the instruction to “move in circles” operates as a literal astral navigation technique, and a symbolic teaching about avoiding linear, lower-density traps.

In summary, Thoth describes that in the regions reached after death, there exist “shadows” or “dark brothers” who travel only in straight, linear paths. He warns that these beings seek to bind or trap the unprepared soul. He then instructs that by moving in a curved or circular path, one can break free of their line of influence, since the dark beings cannot follow motion that is not straight. He adds that curved motion aligns with the geometry of higher realms, while straight-line movement is characteristic of lower astral entities. This potentially links to David Icke’s findings and Native American teachings to not walk towards the initial “dazzling, bright light” observed after death, but to wait, orientate yourself to go to the right, “warmer light”. Another theory that links to this is that of John Lear. He suggests that when your soul leaves the body there’s a structure on the moon that sends your soul back to earth to be reincarnated like a reincarnation trap, rather than choosing to reincarnate for more soul growth and life experiences.
